The Department of Mathematics and Science Education was opened in 1998 as the Department of Primary Education in Education Faculties within the framework of the restructuring of education faculties, and since 2016, it has been operating under the name of Department of Mathematics and Science Education.

Our department, as ALKU Faculty of Education, started education in 2013 for the first time by taking 30 students to Primary Education Mathematics Teaching. Currently, our department, which consists of two departments, Mathematics Education and Science Education, continues its educational activities by taking students to the Science Education program in 2015, in addition to the Elementary Mathematics Education program that started education in 2013.

The vision of our department; It educates teachers and academicians who have achieved world standards by providing quality education, who can take an active role in spreading the goals of life-long education that constantly follows and contributes to the developments in their field, who are in mutual interaction with their stakeholders, and who raise leaders in their own field with their original thoughts and studies. is to become a department that is proud to be a member of.

Mission of our department; To train science and mathematics teachers and academicians at the secondary school level who will contribute to the development of our country, who are experts in their fields, who closely follow the developments in the field of education and training, who are idealistic, inquisitive and analytical, and who respect human values. To contribute to the professional development of students and academicians, to carry out joint projects with various national and international institutions and organizations, to provide the necessary support to the teachers of our country.

In addition, our graduates who want to do academic work can get master's and doctorate degrees with our graduate education programs affiliated with the Institute of Education and Science.
