The Division of English Language Education started to provide education in the Bachelor's Degree in the 2017-2018 academic year and had its first graduates at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year.

The English Language Education Program aims to train English teachers who are able to know and apply contemporary educational approaches, have completed their professional and personal development, and are equipped for their field by being open to research. In the professional context, the main objective of the program is to train teacher candidates who have the qualifications of the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) and also the European Union, who follow the developments in Turkey and the world, evaluate contemporary theories, practices and methods, and who can contribute to themselves and their environment from these evaluations at professional and personal levels. In this direction, the main objectives of the English Language Education program are 

a) to improve students’ English language skills and language competencies,

b) to enable students to establish the relationship between language, society and culture and to ensure that they understand these phenomena,

c) to ensure students understand and learn the characteristics and principles of the teaching profession,

d) to develop students’ skills to teach the English language in the most effective way with the awareness of contemporary methods and techniques.

In our English Language Education Program, undergraduate-level courses are offered to provide English basic language skills as well as teaching knowledge and skills. The contents of the courses offered to provide students with teaching skills aim to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills such as educational psychology, general and specific teaching methods, assessment and evaluation, material development and adaptation for teaching language skills at different levels to different age groups, designing a syllabus taking into account the student needs and expectations, examination and evaluation of English textbooks, computer-assisted language learning and guidance.

In order to contribute to the development of our students in both professional and individual fields, courses on language acquisition, language-culture interaction, methodology, linguistics, sociolinguistics, English Literature and translation theories and practices are also offered.

The mission of our department is to train English teachers in line with national and international teaching qualifications, who are an active part of the Turkish education system, to work in public and private institutions in Turkey.

Work Areas of Our Graduates Our graduates can work as English teachers in public and private institutions that provide education at all levels from preschool to higher education. In addition to the education sector, they can also work in the fields of tourism, public relations, human resources, communication and media, banking and translation.

Preparatory Education

English Preparatory Program is necessary in the Division of English Language Teaching. The Preparatory Education Program aims to provide students with basic English skills and academic skills in a 1-year period.
